Bone metabolism has become a field of knowledge of particular interest only in the last few decades. In Greece, in October 1987, the Hellenic Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism (EEMMO) was founded by a small but pivotal number of colleagues, with members comprising health scientists from all specialties. Since then, organized knowledge and research have been produced consistently, with continuous development and a growing number of those engaged in the field.
